How to Use the Word & Character Counter

What gets counted:

  • Words:Sequences of non-whitespace characters
  • Characters:Total character count including spaces
  • Chars (no spaces):Total count excluding all whitespace
  • Sentences:Text segments ending with . ! or ?
  • Paragraphs:Blocks of text separated by blank lines
  • Lines:Total number of line breaks
  • Reading Time:Based on ~238 words/minute average reading speed
  • Speaking Time:Based on ~130 words/minute average speaking speed
