How to Use the Line Numbering Tool

Line Numbering Options:

  • Start number:
Set the first number to use for the line numbering.
  • Step:
Choose the increment between each line number (e.g., use 1 for consecutive numbers, 2 to skip numbers, etc.).
  • Zero padding:
Define how many digits the line number should have by padding with zeros (e.g., use 3 to get 0001, 0002, 0003).
  • Template:
Customize how the line number appears in each line. Use %n as a placeholder for the line number (e.g., %n., Line %n:, etc.).
  • Descending:
Enable this option to number lines in descending order.

How to use:

  1. Paste or type your text into the Input area.
  2. Adjust the numbering options as needed (start, step, zero padding, template, and order).
  3. The tool will automatically add line numbers based on your settings and show the result in the Output area.
  4. Use the Copy button to copy the numbered text, or Clear to reset and start over.

Tips:

  • You can fully customize the format of the line numbers using the Template field.
  • Zero padding is useful for aligning numbers when your list is long.
